Masterton.—Mr. B. Brown reported at 9 a.m. yesterday.—Barograph, 30.35. Shade temperature, maximum 49.6, minimum 37.4; terrestrial, 30.2; frost, 2 degrees; rain, 2 points; bright sunshine, 3 hours 20 minutes.

The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—An anti-cyclone is moving off the Dominion and a deep depression is located in the south-west Tasman Sea. Winds: North-east to north winds over the North Island, elsewhere northerly light to moderate at first, 'but later freshening generally. Seas generally smooth to moderate, but rising later south, of Cape Egmont. Weather mainly fair to fine, with mild temperatures but becoming unsettled and showery in the western districts of the South Island and about Foveaux Strait. Lighting up time—s. 4 p.m.
