WAR RELIEF.
MEETING OF CLAIMS BOARD. The fortnightly meeting of the Claims Board of the Wairarapa Patritoic Association was held in Masiterton yesterday, when Mr. G. C. Summer'd! presided. There were also present Messrs R. R. Burridge, L. 8. Nicol, J. M. Conadine and D. K. Logau. A soldier applied, in the event of the sale of his property, to have the association’s second mortgage transferred to another property. The matter was held over pending developments. Advice was received from a bank that the association's liability under a guaranteed account had ceased and terminated.
An application from a disabled soldier for an advance of £350 to stock up a farm, was referred to a kindred society for a report. The half-yearly interest due by a soldier upon an investment mortgage, was converted into a grant owing to recurrence of war disability. An application from the wife of a soldier for an advance of £l2B to assist in taking over a farm, was declined, as the application could not be brought inside the scope of the association's activities. A soldier wrote enclosing a cheque in final payment of his advance. Three applications for extension in the date of loan payments were agreed to. A kindred society was authorised to expend up to £7O on behalf of a permanently disabled soldier to assist him on to a small farm.
Seven claims for temporary financial relief, embracing board and lodging, fares to employment, purchase of clothing and cafh grants, were dealt with.
