Masterton.—Mr. R. Brown reported at 9 a.m. yesterday.—Barograph, 30.10. Shade temperature, maximum 51.6, minimum 31.2; terrestrial, 22.8; frost, 7.6; rain, 12 points; bright sunshine, 7hrs lOmins.
Solway.—Mr. H. M. Boddington reports that 12 points of rain were registered at Solway for the 24 hours up till 9 o’clock yesterday morning. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—The cyclone is now centred east of Norfolk Island and moving slowly eastwards. A slight anti-cyclone is crossing the South Island. South-east to south-west winds from Cook Strait northwards, elj.ewhere south-westerly, but veering to westerly later in the south, moderate,to strong generally and squally on partsjOf ihe east coast. Seas still rather Tonga on the east coast, especially in off-shore waters, moderate elsewhere. Weather: Still some isolated showers on the East Coast, but mainly fair to fine. Cool temperatures with frosts in the South Island. Lighting-up time—s. 3 p.m.
