Masterton. Mr R. Brown reported at 9 a.m. yesterday Barograph, 30.18. Shade temperature: Maximum 74.8, minimum 51.8, terrestrial 49.0, bright sunshine 4 hours 42 minutes. Lighting-up time:—s.l9 p.m.

The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidston) reported at 4 pm. yesterday:—The cyclone is now centred north of East Cape and’ is moving easitward( a series of depressions is located! between the Australian Bight and the south Tasman, while an anticyclone is centred unusually far north near Brisbane. Strong east to southeast winds, north of Wawhia and Napier ,elsewhere moderate north-east to north winds freshening later. Seas rough north of Castlepoint, elsewhere smooth to moderate. Weather mild and cloudy with mist or fog in places, scattered showers north of Castlepoint and Kawhia, more generally unsettled conditions probable after a day or two.
