MABTERTON CHAMPIONSHIP. GAMES. In the final of the combined championship doubles of the Maule, ton Lawa Tennis Club, N. Miller and Miss Rogers defeated B. P. Welch and Mira Bradley, 9/7, 8/6. In a semi-final of the men’s championship singles, B. P. Welch beat N. Miller, 6/2, 6/1, 6/3. The other semi-fin..) in this event wax won by E. M. Hodder, who will play Welch in the final. ' ' SCHOOL TOURNEY. A TRIANGULAR CONTEST. | A most enjoablc tennis party was held at “Towce-tt” the home of Mrs Trevor Beetham on Saturday afternoon, when a triangular contest was held the participants being teams of girls representing the Wairarapa High School, Solway College and St. Mat thew’s College. Some excellent games were witnessed many of which were keenly contested and the play, particularly of the top girls, was of a very high standard. The firwt single went to St. Matthew’s College, with High School runner-up. The eeeond single was won by Sulway College with St. Matthew’s runner-up. High School won the third and fourth singles with Solway as runner-up. The first and second doubles were not completed owing to the failing light, High School and St. Matthew’s both having two more games to plav. Solway led in the games score with 65 game® Co their credit but Hitfh School with 62 game® and two matches in hniid seemed likely to para this total. The detailed results are:— ! Ist. single: L.
