HEENEY’S INJURIES

DISFIGUREMENT IPOSSIBLE. DEEP WOUND. MAY CAUSE RETIREMENT FROM RING. (Received Sunday, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, March 15. An infection that may cause disfigurement has set in the deep wound Tom Heeney suffered on the inside of his lip in the fight with Van Porat, and may necessitate plastic surgery if it spreads further, a physician states. Heeney was ordered to bed following treatment at a hospital. The gash inside his lip, extending from the base of the gum, required fifteen stitches. It is stated that the injury may cause Heeney’s retirement from the ring.—(Australian Press Asso-ciation.—-United Service.)
