EXPLOSION AND FIRE.
BUILDING BADLY DAMAGED INCEND.E4.RISM SUGGESTED (Received Sunday, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 17. A severe explosion, followed by a fire, occurred in an unoccupied twostorey brick building at Vaucluse 'ast night. The explosion wreaked the main entrance, shattered tie doors and windows and caused cracks in thei wall's. The firemcij subdued the flames. They found traces of petrol and kerosene in every room, .suggesting incendiarism.— .(Australian Press Association.)
GABAGE SUFFEES | FIVE BUSES LOST IN FIRE (Received Sunday, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 17. An explosion at Bwrdley’s garage at Penshurut caused £lO,OOO damage. In the fire which followed the xeplosion five buses were destroyed. Three hundred pounds sterling were stolen from the driver's bags. Incendiarism is .suspected, as a rubber hose was .seen connected to a petrol tank on a bus.— (Australian Press Association.) AN ARREST (Received Sunday, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 17. The police have arrested David Moyes, thirty-two, a mechanic, on a charge of arson in connection with the explosion which occurred in Bardsley’s Garage.—(Australian Press Associalion.)
