COUNTY AFFAIRS.
MEETING OF MAURICEVILLE COUNCIL The monthly meeting of the Maur[icieville County Council was held on Saturday, Councillor W. A. Miller presiding in the absence of the chairman, •Mr. R. Judd- Others present were | Councillors (?. B. C. Moore, D. Benneitt. |V. K. Lemberg and J. H. Macdonald. The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £651 15s 4d. Accounts amounting to £Bo9' 19s 7d were passed for payment. A con Tract for the metalling of a further 80 chains of Dagg’s Road was submitted and directed, to be sealed. Clerk (Mr. Hollings) reported that all the settlers concerned except one had' signed an agreement to contribute to the cost of this metalling. Tenders would be called, as soon as that signature hadi been obtained. A.n intimation, was received from the Main Highways Board that applications for additional highways might be made. It was resolved- to apply for the declaration as highways of the main road south from Mauriceville Station, and of the portion of the Bowen Road in Mauriceville County to the Eketahuna boundary. The matter was left in the hands of the chairman. It was decided to construct a new concrete culvert on Hefty’s Road under the supervision of Councillor Miller.
The contractor for the Kaiparoro Road metalling applied for leave to use rock metal instead of river metal to complete this work. It was agreed that ;he should be allowed to< do so, subject to the approval of the Government Road Overseer. Councillor Miller undertook to see that official in the matter..
