A VISITING SURGEON.
IMPRESSED WITH DOMINION DUNEDIN, January 23. “I am charmed with all I have seen in New Zealand, and with the wonderful hospitality of your people,” said Sir Watson Cheyne, the eminent surgeon. He said that he was in New Zealand on a health recruiting trip, and preferred not to comment on matters which might make it appear as though he. desired to consider himself a commission appointed for the purpose. Sir Watson holds the view that New Zealand has a great future before it from a tourist point of view, and he has enjoyed his stay immensely. It has been one of the pleasures of his visit to New Zealand that he has been able to meet a number of Shetland Islanders who are now living in the Dominion. He stated that Sir Robert Stcut and other Shetlanders had assisted him in drawing up his itinerary and in this connection he also praised the Work of the New Zealand Tourist Department. He deeply appreciated the courtesy that had been extended to him during his stay in New Zealand, and the memories of his present trip Would always be among his most pleasant, recollections.—(P.A.)
