MASTERTON CLUB’S MEETING LAST NIGHT’S RESULTS The Masterton Amateur Swimming Club held its usual weekly meeting last night at the. Dixon Street Baths, when the following events were decided: — 100 yards senior handleap: D. Groves (Usees), 1; R. Horne (ser), 2; j. Williams (12sees), 3. Time, 82isecs. 50 yards intermediate handicap: L. Brown (9secs), 1; R. Bodie and J. Coradine both 15 secs, tied for second place. 25 yards ladies’ handicap: M. Cohen (ssecs), 1; J. Morton (2secs), 2; P. Young (lsec»), 3. Time, 23secs. WANGANUI CHAMPIONSHIPS. GOOD PERFORMANCE BY GOWAN. WANGANUI, January 23. Under unfavourable weather conditions the Wanganui swimming championships were concluded to-night. The water was very cold and the times were slower than was expected, but in the 880 yards championship H. Gowan bettered the Wanganui .record by a considerable amount, ■ over 20secs, taking taking 12min 23 2-5 sees. In the men’s 100yds and 50yds N. Dowsett was not extended, doing §6sees in the first and 27 1-5 sees for the latter. Miss 'Stratton won the ladies’ 220yds free style, 50yds backstroke and 50yds breaststroke, and will represent Wanganui at the national championships. Miss J. Whyman will also go to Wellington, and the other representatives for Wanganui are: —Senior, N. Dowsett, iH. Gowan,'W. Ryland; free style, L. Smith; breaststroke, intermediate, boys, D. Chisholm, S. Noble, J. Pargeter; girls, Misses J. Summerell, N. Cameron, D. Moys, D. Anderson; junior, boys, M. Wysocki, «B. Greener, J. Wishart, J. Butehart; girls, Misses V. Melton, V. Summerell, D.
