WORLD-WIDE WOMEN’S CONFERENCE. POISON GA CONDEMNED. FRANKFORT, January 4. Madame Naima Sahlborn presided over the International Conference on modern methods of warfare, convoked the International Women’s League tWr Peace ami Liberty. The conference specially gave attention to the use of poison gas and the protection of civilians. Many international scientists and military experts were present. Professor Lewin, of Berlin, condemned poison gas war as cowardly. Man was defenceless because there was fio Antidote. So repugnant must be regarded the crime agnir-t humanity and his description was so horrifying that many women left the hall in teajs. Professor Macartney (Britain) thought it impossible to control chemical industry and prevent the manufacture of poison gas for warfare. The only satisfactory method was to attack all forms nf warfare and endeavour to remove the war spirit.—(Australian Press Association.—'United Service.)
