SALOON COACH SERVICES INAUGURATED COMPETITION WITH RAILWAYS (Received This Day, 0.35 a.m.) LONDON, August 14. The first sleeping saloon motor-coach service was inaugurated to-night between London and Liverpool. Ten bunks in two tiers are provided, The fare, 255, includes morning tea -and biscuits, compared with the third-class rail fare of 24s 9d without a sleeper. Similar services between London and Manchester and London and Plymouth will start shortly—(Australian Press Association— United Service.) TRAIN FARES REDUCED (Received This Day, 0.35 a.m.) „ LONDON, August 14. lhe Evening News” says that the London and North Eastern Railway is substantially reducing fares on August on the Newcastle, South Shields and Sunderland brandies, where moterbus competition is keenest. It is believed that m some eases the fares will reach the pre-war level—(Australian Press Association—United Service.)
