SOUTH WAIRARAPA ITEMS.

(“The Age” Special.) The death took place at his residence, Parkvale,' at an early* hour yefeterday morning, of Mr. John Johnson, the well known traction engine proprietor, as the result of a heart seizure. The late Mr. Johnson, some months ago experienced a severe attack of pneumonia, which left a heart weakness, for which he had been under medical treatment ever since. On Thursday evening h$ was in Carterton pn business. He returned home at ten o'clock and at about midnight, he suffered a heart attack, from which, he failed, to rally. The deceased, who was 52 years of age, was the eldest son of Mr. Nils Johnson, of Carterton and a former settler of Parkvale. He was a Past District President of the United. Ancient Order of Druids. He leaves a 'widow and two,young children. Messrs; M. Johnson (Parkvale), A. Johnson*. (Pukekohe\ arepbrothers, and Mesdames J. McCann (Waihakeke) and D. H. Jensen (South Carterton) sisters. The interment will take place at Clareville to-morrow afternoon. The funeral will leave his late residence at 2.30 p.m. Members of Totara Lodge, and brethren of sister lodges are invited to assemble at the Lodge Room, Carterton, at 1.45 p.m. Dance Postponed, The dance which was arranged for this evening at Pankvale has been postponed, as a mark of respect to the late Mr. J. Johnson.; FEATHERSTON. (“The Age” Special.) The following Will represent the Featherston Golf Club in a ladies’ match against Carterton, at Carterton, Tuesday. Play to commence at 1 o, clock. Anyone unable to play please notify Mrs. A. Clark immediately:— Mesdames Ball, Gray, Kenyon, Lawson, Wakely, Nicholson, Nelson, Parker Ritchie, Shepherd, Stubbs, Turnbulf Trustram, Misses R. Card, McFadzeam Merlet, Nix, Vincent, Williams, Simpson and Mrs. Simpson. Miniature Rifles. of the Featherston Miniature Rifle Club have nominated fpr the Wairarapa Miniature Rifle Association meeting to-day.
