Masterton.—Mr. R. Brown reported at 9 a.m. yesterday: Barograph, 30.75. Shade temperature: Maximum, 51.0; minimum, 36.4; terrestrial, 23.0; frost, 9 degrees; rainfal'l, 2 points; bright sunshine, 2hrs. 24min3. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday: The pressure is still high over New Zealand, but has shown a falling tedency to-day, more especially in and south of Cook Strait; a moderate’ low pressure wave is crossing the southern Tasman Sea. The forecast is for light to moderate cast to north winds north of New Plymouth and Napier and northerlies elsewhere, becojning fresh in. Cook and Foveaux Straits; seas generally smooth to moderate and variable winds with nortnerlies ruling in the Northern portion of the eastern Tasman Sea, with moderate seas, moderate to fresh northerly to westerly winds in the southern portion, with rather rough seas; weather somewhat cloudy in the western districts south of Cape Egmont and in southern Otago, with some light showers, but elsewhere chiefly fair to fine; cool night temperatures. Lighting-up time—s. 34 p.m.
