DAIRY PRODUCTION.
DECREASE IN SOUTH ISLAND DUNEDIN, June 6. At a meeting of the. South Island Dairy Association the president (Mr. Middleton) said that the production figures had fallen. Butter had decreased by 38,000 boxes and cheese by 4800 crates. This was probably on account of the spring weather and the high wool prices, which made sheep farming more attractive. However, the North Island had held its own, and the Dominion export was the same as in the past. The North went in more solidly for herd testing, and the speaker exhorted the South to do likewise. Harbour Board charge reductions secured by the association had saved £l5OO yearly, which was five times the amount collected in subscriptions over the whole island.—(P.A.)
