SOUTH WAIRARAPA ITEMS.
FEATHERSTON j (“The Age” Special.) Miss M. Ebbett (Wellington) has been spending a few days with Mr and Mrs G. A. Vincent, Featherston. Miss G. Wickens. Wellington, spent the holidays In Featherston with her parents, Mr and Mrs A. E. Wickens. The Misses I. and N. Milner, Carterton, are at present visiting Featherston. Card Evening. A very enjoyable card evening was given in the Parish Hall, Featherston, on Monday evening, by Mesdames Rowles and Watson for the members of the Featherston Croquet Club and their friends. Progressive euchre occupied the first part of the evening, the prizes going to ladies: Mrs G. Vincent 1, Mrs Hoskings 2. Men, Mr. Thompson 1. A much-appreciated supper was then served by the hostesses. Golf.
The following will represent the Wairarapa Golf Club in its match, against Carterton, to be played at Rototawai on Saturday next: D. C. Collins, G. Fenwick, W. G. Martin, W. H. Rowles, N. There was a large attendance of members at the Gumgrove links during the week-end when a handicap medal round was played. The following are detailed results: Men (18 holes): W. J. Williams 105 (30), 75; Miss Ruaue 111 (35), 76; Mrs Ball 160 (17), 83; Miss Parker 103 (19), 84; Mrs Kenyon 105 (20), 85; Miss Simpson 105 (20), 85; Mrs Parker 113 (25), 88; Mrs E. Williams 118 (26), 92; Mrs Beale 123 (30) 93; Miss Walsh 149 (35), 114; Mrs dark 145 (30), 115; Miss Barry 134 (19), 115; Mrs Wakely 152 (35), 117. Concert and Dance. A very successful concert and dance was held ia. the Pihautea Hall on Monday night in aid of the Hall funds. Items contributed by the Wellington Tramways’ Entertainers, Mr A. Burt, Mrs Rosentral, Miss H. Martin, Mr and Mrs Ballamore and Mr. H. Davies. During the evening several novelty dances were given. Miss B. Ferguson played, first-class dance music. During an interval Mr J. Juno called for a hearty vote of thanks to the Tramway Entertainers which was given by acclamation. He also thanked the residents who had placed their homes at the disposal of the visitors during their stay. Mr. Dellamore replied on behalf of the visitors. Mrs D. C. Kibblewhite, Featherston, has returned home after an enjoyable holiday spent in the south. Mr. D. Clarke, South Featherstr-n, is expected back from Sydney on June 15. He will be accompanied by Mrs. Clarke, who is recovering from 1 serious illness.
