ANIMAL DISEASES.

AN INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS. United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. May 20. The Congress of Epizootics has concluded. Over fifty delegates attended, including Messrs. Heywood (Australia), Reid (New Zealand), Jackson (Great Britain). Foot and mouth disease was the main problem discussed, and a motion was adopted to continue research on the lines now followed. A paper read by Dr. Burji (Switzerland) caused a heated discussion awing to the difference of opinion on the Continent as to the treatment of this disease and resentment against police and sanitary supervision. Delegates viewed the State School of Veterinary Science, which Mr. Heywood declares more complete and better equipped than many medical schools in Australia. The delegates also met Professors Vallee and Leelinehe, who took colossal pains and expense with the devotion of a lifetime to discover a remedy. Gaseous lymphadenitis in sheep was discussed, but there was nothing fresh to report since last congress. They are awaiting reports in Australia and Argentine following experiments.—(Australian Press Association.)
