The number of cases of “ first aid attended to on public duty” was 10,192, against 7937 for the preceding year, and 4477 for 1925 —a very satisfactory increase. The Christchurch Kailway Division stands at the head of the list with 2707 cases —Auckland, 1909, National Reserve, 1777; Dunedin, "406; Gisborne, 261'; Wanganui, 250; Hillside, 250; Timaru, 232; Whangarei, 179; Wellington, 155; Hamilton, 150; MastertA, 140. In order that information might be available as to the amount of public duty carried out on a Saturday afternoon, reports were obtained from all units as to the work done on Saturday, July 23 last. The returns which were furnished show that the activity has been well maintained. A total of 250 members attended at 93 sports grounds, etc., and treated 411 cases. The cases of “first aid attended to not on public duty” totalled 10,075, the figures for 1926 being 6234, and for 1925, 3603. Tim amount of removal and transport work carried out by the brigade was 1051 cases. In connection with this work, it should be remembered that in three of the centres, the association undertakes transport of the sick and injured, and for general information the following figures, kindly supplied by the association secretaries, are quoted:—Auckland, 1133 cases; 9099 miles. Christchurch, 1093 cases; 7516 miles. Dunedin, 1062 cases, 7571 miles. Thus placing 4339 cases to the credit of the Order for the year 1927. The number of “cases nursed privately” was 297, as against 488 for the previous year, and 264 for 1925. The membership has increased from 996 to 1408 and thirteen new divisions were registered during the year.
