MORTGAGE INTEREST.

TENDENCY TO REDUCTION IN AUCKLAND AUCKLAND, May 21. The annual report of the Real Estate Institute of Auckland expresses the opinion that there is a more optimistic feeling at the present time than for the past three or four years. The report states that New Zealand’s ■.■redit stood remarkably high in financial circles, as was shown by the recent Government loan flotation in London. If the banjjs eould see their way to reduce the overdraft rate better conditions might be looked for in the near future. Another satisfactory indication of the trend of the money market was a tendency toward a reduction in. rhe mortgage rate of interest. Money was now available on first-class securities at 6 per cent —(P.A.).
