(“The Age’’ Special.) Mr. C.. R. Skippage has recovered sufficiently to be able to return home. Miss J. McDonald, youngest daughter of Mr. P. McDonald, who was operated on at the Greytown Hospital, is making satisfactory progress towards recovery. Plunket Society. The monthly meeting of the Featherston Branch of the Plunket Society was held on Tuesday, Mrs. Q. Donald presiding. There were also present, Mesdames M, Elgar, G. Yule, D. Collins, D. Kibblewhite and G. Nelson. Apologies were received from Mesdames A Clark, R. Barton and H. Bloxam. Bank credits totalling £l6 ss. were reported. It was decided to hold the Annual Baby Party in the Anzac Hall on December 8. Children up to the age of five years are to receive toys from the Christmas Tree, while children over that age are to receive balloons. Adults are to be charged Is. admission and children over five years 6d. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr. Watson for the presentation of a flower stand. Mesdames R. Barton, A. Pearce and G| Yule were appointed a buying committee with an allowance of £4 The nurse reported several cases of babies needing emulsion but the parents were too poor to afford to buy it. It was decided to leave the matter of supplying emulsion in such cases to tho nurse’s discretion. Scouts. At the Scouts’ parade on November 3 an examination was held for the Tenderfoot Test. Tho candidates passed with flying colours. The following are the Scouts who qualified: Keith Kenward, J. Phillips, Roy Murray, A. O’Neale, Mitchell and Eric McKenzie, William Benton, Ray O’Reilly, Bernard Hoskmgs, lan Blain, Guy Wenden. Most of the Troop have now passed their Tenderfoot Test and are beginning to get busy in qualifying for their second-class. The takings at the Fireworks Display on Saturday night amounted to £7 13s. Bowling. following are the drawings in the first round of the singles for the Matthews Bowls:—J. Higginson v Orams; Simpson v. Rea; Lawson v. Roberts; Rolls v. Adamson; Cundy v McKenzie; Yule v.
