A GAME SANCTUARY.

THE KOURARAU DAM AREA. NO PERCH-ALLOWED. The Wellington Acclimatisation Society advised the Wairarapa Power Board at its meeting yesterday that it had approved of the board’s application to have the Kourarau dam proclaimed a game sanctuary. Mr R. J. King urged that the board should not permit the introduction of perch to the dam. He stated that the area was recognised as a good trout fishing spot and perch would quickly spoil it “It would merely be a fishing ground for ‘pothunters’ with worms and such things,” he said. His pro- . u u to ban the introduction of perch was carried on the voices.
