DRAMATIC HALT CABLED IN LIBEL CASE. JURY WOMAN CHALLENGED. DETROIT, April 21. The Sapiro-Ford libel suit came to a dramatic encl, when Judge Raymond '?•'nlrfl a motion declaring a mis-trial. Defendant’s lawyers presented a motion alleging that Mrs Hoffman, a member of the jury, was guilty of conduct pr 'i licial to Ford, and that a fair trial was impossible. The charge was: Fh I, that Airs Hoffmann represented that her husband was a plumber when he was actually a bootlegger; second, detectives heard her converse with an individual known as Kid Afillcr, who mentioned the opportunity to make much money; third, that she gave an interview to a Detroit newspaper denying improper conduct as a member of the jury; fourth, that she told her ( cousin before the jury was chosen that | it would be bad for Ford to have her ; selected.
