AN ENJOYABLE FUNCTION.

DANCE AT MAURICEVILLE. PLUNKET SOCIETY BABY CARNIVAL. A most successful wind-up dance was held last night in the Mauriceville East Hall, in aid of the funds of the Plunket Society Bab£ Carnival, when those who contributed to the recent effort were entertained. About 200 people attended from all parts of the district. The hall was most tastefully decorated for the occasion with beauti ful festoons of ferns, and with bamboo, and pottery lent by the Mauriceville Brick Company. The stage and one end of the hall were converted into lounges. The floor was in excellent order for dancing. Mr. Higgie was a capable M.C. A committee of ladies—Mesdames I. Cameron, P. E. Mortensen, Bird, Freeman, Coleman, C. C. Jackson, Trass, P. Mortensen and Higgie—were responsible for the arrangements of the evening. A good supper was served. Extras were provided by Messrs. Hooper and Jensen, and the music was supplied by the Court Royal Orchestra. Mr. L. T. Daniell spone on behalf of x the committee, and thanked all for their help. He congratulated the district on its enthusiastic efforts to raise funds for such a worthy cause. Mr. Daniell also spoke on the aims and objects of the Plunket Society, and of the good work it had achieved.

A presentation of an enlarged and framed photograph of the Mauriceville Dairy Factory was made by Mr. C. C. Jackson to Miss Lemberg, who set the machinery of the factory in motion at the opening ceremony some time ago. An invitation was extended to those present by Mrs. C. C. Jackson to attend a function at the Mauriceville East Hall this afternool at two o’clock, at which the successful baby in the carnival will be crowned, and a sub-branch, of the Plunket Society would be formed, for which members of the Masterton Committee of the Society would be present.
