’ ANNUAL meeting- of mas...lON L2AKCH. REMI j J FOR CONFERENCE. The annual meeting of the Masterton branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held yesterday, Mr C. C. Jackson presiding. Two resignations were accepted. « Remits for the inter-provincial conference were approved as follows:— That farmers’ own motor lorries be exempt from heavy traffic fees where engaged .solely in the carting of a farmer’s own produce, etc. That the Government appoint an inspector, or empower the breed societies to appoint one to inspect all flock rams before they are exported to another eountiy. Mr Buick, the mover, stated tha,t half of the flock rams which had left the country had not been inspected, nor had they been registered. That taxation on m'otor cars be levied in the form of a petrol tax, with exceptions on petrol used for stationary engines. On the suggestion of Mr G. H. Perry, it was decided to set up a comonttee to co-operate with the Masterton A. and P. Association in making the annual display of wool entered in the fleece competition more popular with breeders and the public. Mr T. R. Barrer suggested that in making tlie display, concrete forms of the value and count of various types of wool should be placed beside the fleeces showing the manufactured article and examples of faults in wool. Officers were elected as follows: Chairman, Mr C. C. Jackson; vicechairman, Mr J. M. James; committee, Messrs A. McKay, G. Shaw, W. Perry, P. M. Compton, T. R. Barrer, H. Evans, W. H .Buick, L. T. Daniell, A. Forsberg, E. J. Wright, D. J. Bennett, E. W. Parry, C. H. Vallance, D. McGregor; C. J. Bennett; delegates to the provincial executive, Messrs J. M. James, T. R. Barrer, W. H. Buick; delegates to inter-provincial conference, Messrs J. M. James, AV. H. Buick. , At the conclusion of the meeting Messrs T. R. Barrer and T. Moss, the sitting country members on the Wellington Harbour Board, addressed members on the operations of the board.
