ACHIEVEMENT OF JUNIOR OFFICERS. ON TYPHUS-STRICKEN SHIP. (Received Wednesday, 8 pun) CALCUTTA, April 19. A dramatic story was related on the arrival off Colombo of the oil tanker Volcetta. Typhus broke out in. midocean during the voyage from Beira to Singapore. The Chief Officer died and the captain and eight of the crow were stricken. Only two junior officers were left to control the ship. As a result of continuous duty, they worked the ship across the Indian Ocean and by desperate efforts reached port in time te save the sick men.—(A. and N.Z.)
