SOUTH WAIRARAPA ITEMS.

FEATHERSTON. (“The Age" Special). A very pleasant function took place at tho Featherston School last week. Prior to breaking-up for the Easter holidays, all the children and teachers from the primary and high schools assembled to bid farewell to Mr F. Combs. Miss Patty Edwards, in a neat little speech, expressed regret at Mr Combs’ departure, but at the same time wished him success in his new position and also hoped the change would benefit Mrs Combs and family. Miss Edwards asked Mr Combs to accept a gold mounted fountain pen and a cheque as a gift from the pupils, who would ever have kind remembrance of him and his family. Mr Combs, who was deeply touched by the kind act and words, expressed his sincere thanks, and said that the incident would always remain fresh in his memory.
