BOY SCOUT CAMP.

AT OPAKI. A HAPPY GATHERING. A most enjoyable and instructive time was spent by a party of Boy Scouts, members of St. ’ Matthew’s (Masterton, No. 1) Troop, who went into camp H. B. Maunsell’s proa perty “Rathkeale,” Opaki, on Saturl day morning. The weather throughout was ideal. Scoutmaster A. M. H.*DewaJ was in charge of thirteen boys, assisted by Scoutmasters Eric Green and Harrjf Armitage. A profitable course of in! struction was taken on camp discipline! and other duties, and Mr. J. Cartef directed ithe signalling. A church. ser« vice was held on Sunday morning. A visit of inspection was paid by the Mayer (Mr. T. Jordan) on Monday morning. Mr. Jordan spent an hour with the boys, and expressed his keen interest in the camp. He was particularly struck with the tidiness of ihe camp and the discipline of the boys, and only regretted that there were not four times as many boys in camp. Save for one minor casualty, the health of the boys .was excellent. It was with feelings of regret that the camp was broken up on Monday evening. The Troop wishes to express its thanks to Mr. H. B. Maunsell for permission to camp on his property and for supplying milk, to Dr. Prior, to Mr. H. Green for gifts, and to Mr. Jones for conveying the boys to and from camp.
