A GOOD STAND.
CANTERBURY MAKE 346. AGAINST MELBOURNE C.C. CHRISTCHURCH, March 4. The Canterbury v. Melbourne match opened to-day at Lancaster Park in •beautiful weather. The wicket was fast and true. Oliver and Talbot were unable to play for Canterbury, and were replaced by Gregory and Patrick. Page, the home captain, won the toss, and elected to bat. The Canterbury side reached the very fair total of 346. The outstanding figure in the Melbourne •bowlers was Ebeling, who always looked dangerous and occasionally sent down a ball almost unplayable.
