E. H. L. Bernau (Wanganui) has been selected to replace F. T. Badcock in the New Zealand cricket team to tcur England.

James Findlay, manager of the Mosgiel Dairy Company, was found in his office last night with a bullet wound in his head and was taken to hospital in a serious condition. He is not expected to live. He is a married man, 38 years of age, and had been in illhealth for some time. It is thought to be a case of suicide.—(P.A.) Sighting an outbreak of fire in the Chinese market gardens at Akura at 0.25 this morning a railway cleaner, on duty at the engine sheds, notified the Fire Brigade. The window displays arranged by Messrs. J. L. Murray, Ltd., for the occasion of the Royal visit are being greatly admired* and were the centre of a good deal of interest last evening. The display is a highly artistic one and is in the form of a colour scheme of red, white and blue arranged with most pleasing effect. Great credit is due to tho firm’s window-dresser, Mr. 8. Wilson.
