AUCKLAND’S SECOND STRIKE. CENTURY TO C. DACRE. DUNEDIN, January 4. The Otago v. Auckland Plunket Shield match was resumed in fine weather. Auckland (two for 212) batted nearly all clay; the innings closing for 539 (additional scores: Cooper 66, Dacre 109, Alcott 87, Player 36). Zimmerman took 3 for 47 and 'Shepherd 3 for 81. Rain caused an adjournment for an hour towards the end of Auckland’s innings. Otago have scored 10 for no wickets down.—(P.A.) (Otago, who made 336 in their first innings, require 359 runs to win.) WELLINGTON v. CANTERBURY. SOUTHERNERS LOSE BY 355 RUNS. CHRISTCHURCH, January 4. Continuing their second innings today in the Plunket Shield match, Wellington were dismissed for 308 (Hollings, not out, 65). Bowling: Read four for 86, Cunningham four for 94, McBeath two for 57. Canterbury made a better showing in their second attempt, Oliver, Sandman and Boon batting freely. They were all out for 334 (Woods 24, Crawford 23, Page 41, Oliver 62, Sandman 64, Boon 41).
