BREAKING-UP CEREMONY. The annual breaking-up ceremony at the Te Ore Orc School took place qn Friday afternoon, when parents and friends attended in large numbers. A programme of songs and folk dances was given by the children, the last items being two beautifully performed poi dances by May Carroll, Agnes Clay ton, Tangi Elers and Polly Governor, accompanied by Florette Simeon. Mr. J. Morris, chairman of the school committee, spoke in regard to the work of the school during the year and distributed the prizes and certificates. PRIZE LIST. The prize list was:— Full attendance: Tangi Elers, Robert Oliver. William McDonald, Roy Simpson, Roy Morris, Oswald Cardno (prizes given by Mr. and Mrs. Morris and Mrs. A. McLaughlan). Best all round pupil: James Drew (prize given by Mrs. Morris.) History and geography: William McDonald. Conduct: Edward Bevan (prize given Ly Mrs. F. Percy). Greatest general improvement (seniors): Spnny Broughton. Writing: Roderick Drew (prize given by Mrs. F. Percy). Drawing (seniors): William Raniera; Standard 2, Ken Broughton. •Sewing (seniors): Kitty Garratt; (juniors), Wallie Rimcne (prizes given by Mrs. McKenzie). I Arithmetic (seniors): lan Percy. The ladies of the district provided a dainty afternoon tea.
