CERTIFICATES AND PROMOTIONS. Proficiency certificates and class promotions at the Te Ore Ore School arc as follows: — Proficiency Certificate: Janies Drew. Promoted Id Standard 6: Roderick Drew. William McDonald, John McKenzie, Robert Oliver, Colin Percy, Lorna Percy, Agnes Clayton. Promoted to Standard 5: lan Morris, lan Percy, Tangi Elers. Promoted to Standard 4: Robert Wilson, May Carroll, Kathleen Garratt, Polly Governor, Nancy Morris, Barbara Percy, Molly McGovern, Floretto Simeon. Promoted to Standard 3: James McKenzie, Atua Mikaera, Erl Percy, Sawi Eimene. Promoted to Standard 2: Alexander McDonald, James' Palatchie, Keith Percy, Roderick Percy, Roy Simpson. BREAKING-UP CEREMONY. The annual breaking-up ceremony at the Te Ore Orc School took place qn Friday afternoon, when parents and friends attended in large numbers. A programme of songs and folk dances was given by the children, the last items being two beautifully performed poi dances by May Carroll, Agnes Clay ton, Tangi Elers and Polly Governor, accompanied by Florette Simeon. Mr. J. Morris, chairman of the school committee, spoke in regard to the work of the school during the year and distributed the prizes and certificates. PRIZE LIST. The prize list was:— Full attendance: Tangi Elers, Robert Oliver. William McDonald, Roy Simpson, Roy Morris, Oswald Cardno (prizes given by Mr. and Mrs. Morris and Mrs. A. McLaughlan). Best all round pupil: James Drew (prize given by Mrs. Morris.) History and geography: William McDonald. Conduct: Edward Bevan (prize given Ly Mrs. F. Percy). Greatest general improvement (seniors): Spnny Broughton. Writing: Roderick Drew (prize given by Mrs. F. Percy). Drawing (seniors): William Raniera; Standard 2, Ken Broughton. •Sewing (seniors): Kitty Garratt; (juniors), Wallie Rimcne (prizes given by Mrs. McKenzie). I Arithmetic (seniors): lan Percy. Conduct: lan Morris (prize given by Mr. 0. Percy). Writing (seniors): Lorna Percy. General improvement: •■James McColin Percy. Greatest improvement Peter Meech (prize given by Mrs. W T . Percy). The school is, much indebted to the members of the committee and to parents, for their generosity in providing so many valuable prizes, both in money and in books, for the encouragement of the children. In wishing pupils and teachers the compliments of the season, Mr. Morris handed to the teachers beautiful boxes Qf stationery, the gifts of the children. The ladies of the district provided a dainty afternoon tea.
