Mr. Mrs. and the Misses L. and M. Bird, of Wanganui, were visitors to Masterton during the week-end. They were guests at the Midland Hotel. Mr. J. Mclntosh, of Masterton, who won the professional golf championship
of New Zealand last week, went on to. Wanganui to compete in the Seafield tournament. The Governor-General and Lady Alice Fergusson arrived in Gore yesterday afternoon and. were formally welcomed by the Hon. G. J. Anderson and the Mayor and Councillors. His. Excellency inspected a Guard of Honour o'f High School Cadets and attended the races. A civic reception was held in the evening. His Excellency later attended a Masonic function. To-day visits will be paid to schools, etc., and in the afternoon, Their Excellencies leave by car for Balclutha.—(P.A.) Mrs. H. Sargent, of Wanganui, is f>aying a visit to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bally of Chapel Street, Masterton.
