AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
SUB-CENTRE MEETING. PREPARING FOR THE SEASON. A meeting of the Wairarapa Sub Centre, N.ZAA.A., was held last even ing, Mr. D. McKay presiding. A welcome was extended to Mr. A. 1 orsberg, representing the Mauriceville 'Club which has been resuscitated after being in recess for two years. The club's application for January 29 for their annual sports meeting was granted, and their programme was approved. January 1 and January 8 were pen -cilled for the Wairarapa Caledonian Soannual gathering. A letter was received from the Eketahuna Athletic Club stating that a very successful season had been experienced, and that the prospects for the coming season were bright. The club applied for January 26 or February 2 for their annual gathering, and inquired if there was any possibility of securing a visit from the American team. It was decided to grant January 26, and to forward the request regarding the Americans on to the Wellington Centre for consideration. The Manawatu SubCentre wrote stating that the Dannevirke Club was agreeable to control the annual country chibs championships, and suggesting January 1 as the date. It was decided to reply that the Wairarapa SubCentre supported Dannevirke having control of the meeting providing it was held as usual on Easter Saturday, New Year's Day being unsuitable for' Wat 5 rarapa, who are the holders. The two miles Wellington provincial championship was allotted to the Wairarapa Caledonian Society's meeting. The President (Mr. W. G. Watereon) was appointed delegate to attend the annual meeting of the Wellington Centre.
It was decided to hold the annual meeting of the Sub-Centre on Wednesday, October 27.
