Levin and Co., Ltd.-, report, August 6:— As compared with last week’s quotations, there is no quotable change in prices. The market for lamb is steady, with a hardening tendency, whilst for mutton there is little inquiry. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report, August s:—Lamb: N.Z. prime crossbred lamb, Canterbury, heavy Bd, light 8 7-8 d;. North Island, heavy 7}d, light B}d. Market weak. Demand runs principally on finest qualities. Mutton: N.Z. prime crossbred, fflaaterbury, heavy spl, light 6Jd; North Island, heavy 4fd, light flj. Market weak. Demand runs principally on heavy weights. Australian Frozen meat.—Good average quality crossbred mutton, light 4d. Market weak. Demand poor. DAIBY PRODUCE. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report, August 5: —Butter: Market steady, but quiet. We quote New Zealand finest salted 172/- (170/- to 172/-); Danish, 178/- to 180/- (178/- to 180/-) Australian, finest salted, 166/- to 168/- (166/- to 168/-); unsalted, 170/- (170/-). SMITHFIELD PRICES. The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board has received the following cable from its London office, dated August 6, advising Smithfield delivered prices at that date as follows:- — N.Z. Wethers and Maidens. —Canterbury quality, selected brands, u/56, 6J, 57/64 6d, 65/72 sid; other brands, u/56 6 l-Bd, 57/64 s}d, 65/72 sd. N.Z. Ewes.—U/64, 4 3-Bd.

Argentine Chilled Beef. —Ox, fores 3Jd, hinds 7}d. Lambs.—There is a somewhat better feeling in the Smithfield market today; consumption fair, but country trade is still bad. Mutton: Market quiet. Beef: Market is slow.
