GOOD MAEKET FOE FAT. SHEEP. CHRISTCHURCH, Juijr 21.—Entries were small to-day, excepfc in, the fat cattle section, in which there was an over-supply... Store Sheep.^—Mostly -owes, were entered, a fere of which, came from the North Island. For ewes showing well in lamb, there was a good sale;, also for ewe hoggets. A line of s.m. Romney cross ewes made 37/-and a specially good pen of ewe hoggets 32/3. Good s.m. Romney cross ewes 37/-, 2-tooth crossbred ewes 26/- to 28/9;. fair conditioned aged ewes 28/r' to 25/-, s. and f.m. three-quarterbr.ed ewes 26/- to 31/9, low conditioned.! aged ewes 14/to 16/9,. three-quarterbred ewe hoggets to 32/3, crossbred do. 26/9 to 28/4, wether hoggets 18/- to 22/-, two culled halfbr.ed wethers 24/- to 25/4, 6 and 8tooth wethers 25/- to 28/-.. Fat Shpep.—A smaller entry. It was the first sale this season, at which exporters’ competition was absent, but thp market was a good one. Prices showed an advance pn the preceding sale to the extent of: about 1/- a head ion ewes, hub wethers were easier. Extra prime wethers to 43/10, prime 34/- to 38/-, medium 30/- to 33/6, light 2.6/6 to 29/*; extra prime ewes to !35/10, prime 24/6 to 29/6, medium 22/to 24/3, light 19/- to 21/9, aged 14/6 to 18/6. Fat Cattle. —A heavy entry of 648 head, including a number of good station, andl several North Island drafts. The quality was the best for a number of sales. The heavier entry caused a decline in values by up to 20/- per head. Best beef made to 41/- per 100 lb., good prime 37/6 to 40/-, heavy beef 35/6; to 38/6, North Island 34/6 to. 37/6, medium 34/- to 36/6, inferior 28/ 1 - to 31/6, rough down to 22/6. Extra heavy steers to £l9 to £2l 12/6, prime heavy £l6 10/- to £lB 10/-, prime medium weight £l4 10/- to £l6 10/-, .medium quality £ll to £l4 5/-, light £9 to £lO 13/-, rough £7 7/6 to £B. 15/-; extra prime heifers to £l4 17/6, prime £9 10/- to £l2, ordinary £7 ta £9 5/-, light £4 10/- to £6 15/-; extra prime cows to £l3 7/6, prime £9 to £ll 15/-, medium £6 to £8 15/-, old £4 to £5 15/-. Vealera.—A very small entry and a jump in prices. Good runners to £9 2/-, medium £6 to £7 5/-, ealves £3 10/to £5 10/-, others 15/- to 30/-. Store Cattle.—A line of three and four-year-old steers made from £6 17/to £9 2/6. Dairy Cattle.—Values were easier. Best springers £7 10/- to £lO 10/-, inferior £3 to £7, medium heifers £3 to £5 5/-.—(P.A.)
