COUNTY ENGINEER ARRESTED. RESULT OF FATAL MOTOR ACCIDENT. INVERCARGILL, Mar. 29.—At the conclusion of the inquest on the death of Frederick Witty, who was killed on March 8, the Coroner returned a verdict that deceased met his death through being run over by a car driven by John Guy Dennison. Dennison is the engineer engaged by the Southland County Council to supervise the work of bitumenising the north road. The evidence showed that the dec .psed, who was riding a bicycle, had been struck from behind and thrown. Dennison has been arrested on a charge cf manslaughter. Bail was allowed and he was remanded.—(P.A.)
