THE SEISMOGRAPH’S STORY. FARTHQUAKE PURELY LOCAL. Commenting on the seismograph recording on Monday’s earthquake, the Government Seismologist (Dr. C. E. Adams) stated that the shake appeared to be a purely local one, felt to a greater extent perhaps than elsewhere at Masterton, but also felt at Christchurch and on the West Coast to a slighter degree. In such a case the central point of disturbance is scarcely possible to locate.
