Jan. 3.—Barograph 29.70, shade temperature, maximum 69.4, minimum 40.2, terrestrial 30.4; frost 1.6; rain 4 points; br. sunshine, Saturday 6 hrs; Sunday 10 hrs 15 min. For December there were 252 hrs 37min bright sunshine; no sunless days. Average previous 10 yrs, 229 hrs 5 min; previous highest 279 hrs 19 min in 1919; lowest 178 hrs 13 min in 1922. For the year, 2102 hrs 13 min. Prevailing winds in December- N 5 S.W. 4, W 6, N.W. 7 and 9 calm
