SOUTH WAIRARAPA TOURNAB MENT. The finals of the South Wairarapa ladies’ championship singles and combined championship doubles will be played in Wellington. In the semi-finals of the singles, Miss East beat Miss Pragnell, 6/1, 6/1; and Mrs Marshall beat Miss Feast, 6/1, 6/2. The final of the combined doubles will bo contested by Rollings and Miss East and Marshall and Mrs Marshall. Miss Card (Featherston) who reachbed the final of the ladies* handicap singles, scratched to the winner of the top semi-final and this event also will be played in Wellington between Mrs Marshall and Miss Mountier. WILDING SHIELD REGAINED. CANTERBURY BEAT AUCKLAND. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 3.—By the narrow margin of 15 sets to 14, Canterbury won back the Anthony Wilding Shield from Auckland. Uadi province won six matches. Canterbury was two matches down, having won two and lost four on Friday’s play, but on Saturday the local team won three singles and a doubles. Tho singles ( . champion, G. Ollivier, was beaten by Bartleet in the singles, winning two games only in each of two sets, and, partnered by Greenwood, lost the doubles also. Results of Saturday’s play: Singles, Ollivier lost to Bartleet, 2/6, 2/6; D. France beat Griffiths, 7/5, 9/7; I. Seay beat Knott, 6/1, 6/3; Greenwood beat Johns, 7/5, 6/0.
