THE ORIGIN OF RUGBY.
(To the Editor.) Sir, — Be first football in Masterton, I notice by a recent issue of your paper the history of early football in Masterton as supplied by Mr McMaster. He states that Mr Henry, postmaster, formed the first club. That statement is not correct, as the first club in Masterton was formed by Mr J. R. Willcox, postmaster, Mr Henry’s predecessor, and I was secretary of the club. Mr Willcox and myself procured the, ball, and we played many friendly games long before the advent of Mr Henry.—l am, etc., J. lOBNB.
