VICTORIA v. MANAWATU. VISITORS MEET DISASTER. PALMERSTON N., March 17.—The Victorian cricketers met the Manawatu representatives in a two-days’ match. Manawatu, batting first, knocked up 205 (McVicar 32, Eyre 22, extras 40). Hartkopf 4 for 49 and Ebeling 3 for 31 were the most successful attackers. The Victorian innings was a succession of disasters, 8 wickets having fallen for 56 when stumps were drawn. Two - young bowlers, Gallichan and Hope, divided the honours, the former taking 5 for 26, and the latter 3 for 22. The visitors require 50 runs to save a follow on (100 runs for a twodays’ match). —(P.A.)
