SOUTH WAIRARAPA ITEMS. (“The Age” Special.) Drainage Problem. Farmers who are confronted with the drainage problem of liquid manuro from the milking sheds will be interested in a novel innovation recently installed by Mr W. G. K. Wiggins, of Greytown. Various methods for disposing of the liquid on the level were tried, and finally Mr Wiggins put down a large concrete well at the corner of the yards. By means of powerful flush sprays connected with the high pressure water supply the yards are cleaned almost instantaneously, the liquid being carried along the channels into the concrete well. To empty the well a powerful pump is sot in motion and in a few minutes the liquid is pumped into a large capacity barrel, resting on a sledge. It is then a very simple matter to sledge the contents to whatever pail of the farm it is desired to manure. The sheds are also replete with a most up-to-date Harris hot water system.
