Mr R. P. Ward has been appointed Under-Secretary of Justio*. The Governor-General (Sir Charlee Forgusson) has accepted the office «f president of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society The death has occurred at Sydney of Mr Thomas Clarke, formerly Town Clerk of South Dunedin and ex-Lord Mayor of Sydney. He was 72 yeara of age. At a meeting in Masterton of Radiac Metals, Ltd., Messrs R. McKenzie, G. C. Williams, H. L. Cunningham and E. L. Holmwood were appointed directors. Mr H. R. H. Chalmers, accountant at Auckland, wiU succeed Mr BicVord as manager ef the Danncvirkc braneh of the Bank of New Zealand. Mr Bickford is retiring on superannua- ' tion. Mr Mathieson, general manager ot the Huia Aerated Waters Co., of I>a»nevirke, has been visiting Masterton in conncetion with t'he branch here. He returns to Danae virke to-day or to-morrow. Viscount Curzon’s condition 1* eauzing anxiety. A late buUetin state* that restlessness is taxing his strength. The Queen called personally to inqure as to his condition. At the meeting of the Masterton * Trust Lands Trust last evening, Mr A. Donald intimated that, as 'he was now residing outside the Small Farm Area, he would shortly have to vacate his seat on the Trust, and that meeting would be the last that be could attend. The chairman (Mr E. G. Eton) said the Trust would be very sorry to lose the services of so keen a member, and he hoped it would have the benefit of 'his judgment and wisdom again in the near future. Other members also passed appreciative remarks, for which Mr Donald exgreased thanks.
