SOLDIER SETTLEMENT.
REVALUATION BOARD’S POWER. SECURITIES OVER STOCK. (“The Age” Special.) Parliament Buildings, Oct. 30.—An amendment of the Discharged Soldier’s Settlement Bill was introduced. The Dominion Revaluation Board is empowered to deal with, applications for revaluation received too late, but which were in transit to the Dominion Board within the time prescribed. The hoard can, in the case of mortgages t given as security for improvements, * stock, etc., reduce the amount owing and direct that any part of the mortgage can be transferred to a suspense account, free of interest, for up to 3 years. Provision is made, in cases of realisation under power of sale, that the Minister, on the recommendation of the Land Board, may write off the excess of the debt over the amount realised. Values of'buildings on land leased to discharged soldiers can be reduced as from July 1, 1921, or from the date of the lease, whichever is later, and power is given to discharged soldiers, who hold small grazing run leases, to obtain extensions for up to 10 years.
