Mr N. H. Elmslie, Trade Commissioner for Great Britain, is visiting Carterton for the show.
Colonel C. G. Powles, C.M.G., D. 8.0., who is visiting Masterton, will proceed to Trentham this morning.
Dr. Poren, Professor of Agriculture at Victoria University College, was present at the Carterton show yesterday.
The Canterbury College Board of Governors has resolved to offer the position of W.E.A. lecturer in South Canterbury to Mr Harold G. Miller. M.A. (N.Z.), B.A. (Oxon), formerly of Masterton, Mr Miller will take up his duties in February next, and will reside at Timaru.
The death occurred yesterday of an old resident of Masterton, Mr H. Simpson, of Jean street, at the age of 68 years. Deceased had been in failing health for some time. He leaves a
widow, who will have the sympathy of a large number of friends. The funeral will leave the residence, Jean stre t, at 1.30 p.m. on Saturday for the Masterton cemetery.
