Mr James Breeds ( Wellington) 14 visiting Masterton.

Mr R. B. Horner, of Cartel-two, had been licensed as a surveyor.

Mr T. Evans, now of Christchurch, spent the week-end in Masterton.

Mr A. H. Miles, of Messrs Murray, Roberts and Co., Ltd., Wellington, is visiting Mr F. J. Pyne, of the Bank of Australasia, Auckland, was a visitor to Masterton for the week-end. Mr Hugh Gillies (Palmerston North) arrived in Masterton yesterday with his well-known horse, Captain Glossop, for the Carterton show. Mr and Mrs R. J. Young returned to Masterton last evening from an extended tour of the British Isles, the Continent and America. Mr and Mrs D. Cameron and the Misses Cameron, “Mottaki,” returned to Sydney from England by the Ormonde, and are expected back in the Wairarapa early next week. Mr D. C. Bates, Dominion Meteorologist, arrived in Masterton last night and was the guest of Mr R. Brown. This morning at 10.i>0 ho will address the students at the Technical School. While touring through England, Mr. and Mrs R. J. Young, who returned to Masterton last evening saw quite a lot of Dr. J. A. and Dr. Helen Cowie, and Mr and Mrs Hugh Morrison, who were well and enjoying their trip. ijiss Moya Kennedy (Wellington) is visiting Masterton. Mi's Percy Smith (Lincoln road) has been visiting Wellington. Mrs Spencer Beard (Auckland) is paying a visit to Masterton.Mrs Rupert Morrison intends to visit America in the near future. Mrs Morrison (Paraparaumu) .is visiting Mrs Wilson (Chapel street). Mrs R. Y. Collins (Wellington) is the guest of Mrs R. McKenzie (Essex street). , Mrs E. M. Bundle (Pownall street) has returned to Masterton from a visit to Wellington. Mrs Norman Beetham (Palmerston North) is visiting Mrs W. Wardell (Te Whiti); Miss Eunice Robieson (Pownall street) has returned from a visit to Wellington. Mrs G. W. Sellar (Columba road) has returned from a short visit to Wellington. Mrs A. H. Cockayne (Wellington) is the guest of Mrs W. A. Hutton (Greytown). Miss Kate Holloway has returned to her home ip Wellington after a visit to Masterton. Mrs D. Donald (Te Whiti) has returned from a visit to her mother, Mrs Shaw, at Hawera. Miss E. Williams has returned to Dunedin after spending her annual holidays in Masterton.

Mr and Mrs C. O. Hodgins (Coradine street) have returned from a short visit to Wellington. At the Hawkes Bay A. and P. Society’s show, held at Hastings last week, Miss Nancy Russell’s pony, which was adjudged champion and first prize pony, was ridden by little Miss Audrey Williams, of Masterton. Miss Ina Bosworth, the violinist, who is appearing with Mr Horace Hunt at the concert at St. Matthew’s Parish Hall to-night, arrived in Masterton last evening. Miss Mollie Fenton (contralto) is coming by thia morning’s train. Mrs S. H. D. Peryman (formerly of Carterton), editor of “The White Ribbon,” delivered an address on “A Call to the Women of New Zealand” at the annual area convention of the New Zealand Alliance at Palmerston North.

A London correspondent spates that Mrs W. H. Cruickshank has recovered from a severe operation, and is now enjoying excellent health. Miss Kathleen Cruickshank has been spending an interesting holiday with friends in Sweden. Miss Mary Cruickshank has completed her schooling at Dawlish, South Devon, and is in London to study the pianoforte at the Royal Academy of Music. Mrs Cruickshank has taken a flat at St. John’s Wood foy six. months, while her daughters continue their musical studies.
