SOUTH WAIRARAPA ITEMS. (Our Travelling Reporter.) Gas v. Electricity. In a statement presented to the Carterton Borough Council on Tuesday evening it was shown that the revenue of the gas department had receded from £393 17s 3d in June of last year to £264 13s 9d for the corresponding month this year. Passing it on. At the Carterton Borough Council meeting on Tuesday evening it was suggested that the tradespeople should contribute towards the insurance of the members of the Fire Brigade against accident. Cr*. Broadbent contended that it was unfair that holders of vacant sections should be called upon to contribute. Cr. Churchill pointed out that if the tax fell upon tradespeople they would pass it on to the general public, so it amounted to the same thing. Changing Hands. At the Carterton Borough Council meeting on Tuesday evening a vote of condolence was passed to the relatives of the late Sir Walter Buchanan. The Mayor (Mr W.
