Mr O. N. C. Pragnell (Mayor of .f Masterton) returned yesterday from a 1 visit to Palmerston North.
Nurse Kummer has gone for a fortnight ’s holiday. Her duties for the Plunket Society are being carried out by Nurse Signail.
' Mr W. McAvoy (Rakanui) has disposed of his farm property to Mr J. i Sorensen and will reside in Pongaroa 1 in future. ' Mr Barry Coney, of Auckland, arrived in Masterton yesterday to judge the vocal section at the competitions which commence on Monday.
An invitation has been extended to Mr H. H. Donald, of the MastertonOpaki Rifle Club to join the New Zealand team for Bisley.
I Mr H. Dudding, an old resident of Wairarapa, and for many years town clerk of Greytown, has been visiting that town.
Mr J. W. Blackman, gas engineer to the Masterton Borough Council successfully underwent an operation in the Masterton Hospital on Thursday, and is progressing favourably.
■ Mr S. Gibson, who has disposed of his grocery business in Pongaroa, in leaving for Wellington in a day or so en route to Australia, on a business tour.
I Father Guinane, of Ohakune, has . been transferred to Dannevirke in suc- • cession to the Rev. Father Daly, who . is leaving shortly to take over the charge of the Lower Hutt parish. ■ Mr .T. H. Griffith, manager of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company, Ltd., at Pahiatua, who has been spending his annual leave in the Taupo district has returned home.
I At yesterday’s meeting of the Masterton A. and I’. Association votes of ' condolence were passed to the relatives of the late Mr F. C. Bird, Mr Seharnwcbcr, and Mrs A. J. Percy. J At yesterday’s meeting of the Wait rarapa High School Board it was decided to ask Professor Macmillan Brown (Christchurch) to present the ' prizes at next speech day (December). I Messrs D. Smith, G. H. Perry, J. M. James and W. Kemp have been appointed to represent the Mastertoa A. and P. Association at the annual conference of the N.Z. Council of Agriculture. ' .
Mrs T. R. Barter and Dr. G. H. Schofield were appointed by the Wairarapa High School Board of Governors yesterday to be delegates at the conferthce of High School Beards at Wellington towards the end of this month.
