MR. A. D. McLEOD.
AN; INTERESTING SUGGESTION. The Wellington correspondent of the Christchurch 4 ‘Press,” commenting on the forthcoming re-arrangement of the Cabinet, says:— “One man who stands out conspicuously as marked for the new portfolio is Mr A. D. McLeod, the member for Wairarapa, Mr McLeod is not only a man of great force of character, sound sense, and•honesty of purpose, but ho is also a forcible speaker in ;dq£ate in the House. He often hits hard,, but he does not hit below the belt, and this, combined with his courage and frankness, has gained him 1 the esteem of his political foes, including the Labour members, whom, on occasions, he freely castigates. Mr McLeod would make an ideal Minister of Lands. He has been on the land himself all his life, and knows New Zealand conditions. z
“The question of the appointment of a new member of Cabinet, of course, rests with the Prime Minister, and so far he has given no indication as to what is in his min'd. Should, however, he decide to hand a portfolio to Mr McLeod, there will be not the least •doubt that he will receive the unanimous support of the present members of the Cabinet.”
