(Received 8.5 p.m.) Washington, May B.—The resumption of hearings of the 59 identic beer bills caused a stormy session filled with charges, counter-charges and denials. The room was crowded with women. “Dry” leadera’ agitators plunged into disorder when a New York member of the House of Rpresentatives made personal charges against Wheeler, general counsel for the anti-saloon league. The latter had requested for permission to file a statement for record, but the House member objected, declaring that Wheeler, when previously accorded the privilege, had inserted matter which was extremely vicious and untruthful, adding “Ihave witnesses to prove this.” Mrs Ella Boole, vice-president of the W.C T.U., denounced Governor Smith (New York) for asserting that h i once slated thai he would sign anything to bring back the glass with foam on the tap.
